Things I've learned from Covid-19 Pandemic

It's been a month already since the 1st corona case being announced officially in Indonesia. Just right after such announcement, some people were going crazy to buy masks and hand sanitizers. I was one of them too, but unfortunately, I couldn't find it even a single pax.

But interestingly, the handwash was still there. So, I bought it.
The number of people suffered from Covid-19 are significantly increased day by day. The government encourages people to stay at home as far as they can because around more than 50% cases in Indonesia, have no symptoms whatsoever. So, perhaps they're the carrier only, which still can do activities but they potentially infect other people.

Till now, Indonesia has not lockdown yet, but we're required to distance ourselves from the crowds. I think there's a lot of good things in social distancing, among others:

1. Build Quality Time with Family

This time is a good time for those who spend most of their time in the office, school, universities or somewhere else. Let's take a break and enjoy our time with our families!

2. Never take your freedom or anything for granted

Think about the Palestinian in Gaza, the Syrian and other conflict areas. Now, the Coronavirus pandemic limits our movement and freedom as well. It's really touching when I saw news where Italians entertain themselves due to the lockdown. The singer Giuliano Sangiorgi serenaded his neighbors from his Rome apartment, tenor Maurizio Marchini performed "Nessun Dorma" from Puccini's "Turandot" from his terrace in Florence, etc. So, take this moment to promise ourselves that we we will surely use our time wisely and never take anything for granted.

3. The earth is healing

I love Jakarta sky today, it's a blue clear sky. The last time I witnessed the blue sky in Jakarta is when the major hours-long blackout in August 2019. I heard that the environment is healing as well in some parts of cities in the world, e.g. Venice Canal water has become clear so you can see the fish from the boat, Italy coasts have dolphins coming nearer, Japan has deer roaming the streets, China has record breaking the pollution cuts, etc. So yeaa, the earth is healing and we, too, can healing.

4. It's time to put everything on perspective

During this lockdown period, most of us think about ourselves. Everything is focus and centre now, which is back to yourself. It's a good time to rethink again about our purposes and plan. This pandemic is a test from Allah, so let's take this moment to ponder and reflect.

5. Lastly and the most importantly, return to Allah

The coronavirus is a reminder to us all of our weak state. After all, we return to Him, the Almighty. It's a good time to purify our heart and to straighten our intentions because the Muslims ultimate goal is to reach the Jannah, and only by purifying ourselves, we will worthy of Jannah inshaa Allah.
